Dear Friends of Ukraine,
We are delighted to invite you to a series of charitable screenings of Ukrainian films, organized by the Glasgow University Ukrainian society. The events will be kindly hosted by the Everyman Cinema in Edinburgh, starting on 3rd and 4th of May (Tue and Wed), with more shows to follow over the Summer.
May 3rd, 19:30, 'My Thoughts Are Silent' (2019) Director: Antonio Lukich.
Synopsis: Vadym is a 25-year-old composer and a sound recordist living in Kyiv. Having experienced many setbacks in both his professional and personal life, he gets a chance to start it all over. Just a simple task to record the sounds of the Transcarpathian animals could be his chance to leave uncomfortable Ukraine behind and move to the much-desired Canada. However, things get complicated when the main companion in the job turns out to be Vadym’s mother.
May 4th, 19:30, 'Stop-Zemlia' (2021) Director: Kateryna Gornostai.
Synopsis: Navigating the emotional turmoil of waiting for life to begin while hanging around with classmates - a radical, authentic, and sensitive insight into the unsettling feeling of being young and an inside perspective on Ukrainian youth.
To book tickets please visit www.everymancinema.com then select Edinburgh as your venue and the appropriate date (Tuesday or Wednesday).
All proceeds from the screening of 'My Thoughts Are Silent' will go to the Poland-based Uniters charity, as requested by the film's creators. Proceeds from the screening of 'Stop-Zemlia' will go to various Ukrainian charities.
We look forward to seeing you there,
GUUS and Everyman
