Opera Caledonia is delighted to present “Puccini in Paris” on Friday 10th June (7.30pm) at the Institut français d'Écosse, Edinburgh – an evening of vocal and instrumental music centred around operas set in France or composed by French composers.
We are delighted to welcome to Scotland the fantastic Italian conductor and pianist Maestro Leonardo Catalanotto (described by Zubin Mehta who he regularly assists in Florence as “having great experience in his work”) to perform alongside Scottish based Soprano Rachael Brimley and Hungarian Violinist Tamás Fejes, Assistant Leader of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
The programme will feature “Quando m’en vo”, “Sì, mi chiamano Mimì” & “Donde lieta uscì” from Puccini’s La bohème • “Chi il bel sogno” from Puccini’s La rondine • “Sempre libera” from Verdi’s La traviata • Micaela’s Aria from Bizet’s Carmen • “Intermezzo” from Puccini’s Manon Lescaut • “Intermezzo” from Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur • “Meditation” from Massenet’s Thaïs • “Dance of the blessed spirits” from Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice • Emile Cousin’s “Fantasie Elegante: Il barbiere di Siviglia” • Sarasate’s “Faust Fantasy” on Themes from Gounod’s Faust amongst other items.
