Knock & Nash are an award-winning production team who are passionate about every stage of creative development and delivery. We produce work that brings regional voices and stories to the front line; developing and creating Film, TV and Theatre with the most exciting regional artists. We are dedicated to providing practical, industry-based talent development and making these opportunities accessible to regionally based creatives through our outreach programme. We are delighted to be bringing our course to Edinburgh!
The Introduction to Screen Acting Intensive is a five day course designed to explore the essential skills required for working as an actor in the world of Film and TV. This immersive course offers industry based talent development rooted in character-led storytelling. The course content covers the unique training programme of our full-time courses in a more condensed format. The course will explore essential onscreen disciplines: script and story analysis, character in performance, onscreen methods and techniques, audition preparation, and employability in screen business.
Our unique training programme has been carefully developed by our team of industry professionals to offer a vocational experience that reflect the real working industry. The training we offer not only encompasses screen acting technique, but blends: movement, Meisner, Michael Chekhov to offer a rounded and varied approach to embodying the work.
You can expect to work on a variety of texts from popular TV soaps to Harold Pinter. You will be given ample opportunity to put your craft into practice, shooting a variety of scenes on our Netflix approved equipment. The footage we produce in class is then made available for you to watch in both group sessions and at home. Constructively reviewing footage proves a valuable learning tool, particularly when comparing performances from the beginning and end of the course.
This a professional development course suitable for adults only. This course is designed for levels beginners to intermediate. Previous students have gone on to work professionally on screen, secure agent representation and successfully gain places at some of the UK's leading drama schools, secure agent representation and receive Spotlight accreditation.
You will be required to complete preparation work at home outside of the sessions. Please be aware that actor training by its very nature can involve exercises and exploration that some students may find challenging.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
