The Wedding Singer

About The Wedding Singer

EU Footlights are proud to present The Wedding Singer!

THE WEDDING SINGER:

In 1985, New Jersey, Robbie Hart is working as a wedding singer and Julia Sullivan is working as a wedding waitress. When the pair meet, Robbie is about to get married to his fiancé Linda, and Julia is dreaming of an engagement to her partner Glen. Robbie and Julia are both convinced they are with the loves of their lives. Yet, soon after meeting everything changes… In a time of uncertainty, will you see what happens if you follow your heart?

The Wedding Singer is a Tony nominated musical comedy based on the 1998 Adam Sandler film of the same name, featuring an original musical theatre score of 80ʼs inspired songs written by Matthew Sklar, with lyrics by Chad Beguelin (the creators behind The Prom). Adam Sandlerʼs much-loved songs from the film such as Somebody Kill me and Grow Old with You also feature in the musical.

The musical is packed full of weddings, laughter, dancing and much more- all in true 80ʼs style.

EDINBURGH UNIVERISTY FOOTLIGHTS:

Founded in 1989, Edinburgh University Footlights is a student-run musical theatre group that annually produces one of the largest scale productions of the University's theatrical calendar and a multi-talented showchoir.  In the words of The Edinburgh Guide (2018), Footlights truly provides "professional productions at an amateur price".

DISCLAIMER:

This venue is only accessible by stairs, please consider this when purchasing your tickets. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.

This performance contains occasional strong language and sexual content.

Auditorium seating allocations correspond with current Scottish Government Guidelines. If possible, please purchase tickets in household groups to allow maximum capacity in the theatre.  There will be multiple ticket releases, as we follow ever-changing guidelines, so please check back soon if you haven't been able to grab a ticket. Please be mindful when choosing where you sit, choose a seat which we allow us maximum capacity (eg. If you are booking 2 tickets please look for a gap of 2, or book at the end of a row, rather than disrupting what could be a group of five in the middle of a row).

In the event that EU Footlights must cancel the performance due to Covid-19, you will receive a full refund. If you can not attend the show due to the pandemic, you will only receive a refund if you have purchased Covid-19 ticket cover (£1).
