With our second exhibition we're embracing the cold with full force! In the Bleak Midwinter will run from 3rd December 2021 to 3rd February 2022 at 18 Spey Street Lane, Leith.
It explores materials and themes that play on warmth within the cold, hibernation and comfort, raw tones and arid textures. A glimpse into a harsh winter but a comforting stillness... The exhibition welcomes the pagan, the satanic, as well as the pastoral and the religious undertones the title and inspiration suggest. Tis the season for togetherness - in disciplines, in thought, and in the proximity the rugs and the mugs featured convey!
If you're looking for certified experts on the winter and how to battle it or give into it, look no further than in this selection of brilliant Scottish makers: Robert Hunter with his ceramics, Katie Charleson with her throws, Aiden Milligan and his hinterland paintings, Kirsty Reid, Biscocho, Ciara Veronica Dunne... All complimented and contrasted with some English and European makers whose pieces we have selected to provide beautiful variations on the season...
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
