The first film that kicks off our new documentary series, Cinetopia:DOC - Framing Japan and part of #BFIJapan 2021: Over 100 years of Japanese Cinema, is "Extreme Private Eros: Love Song 1974" directed by Hara Kazuo.
Tickets here - https://www.summerhall.co.uk/sh-event/framing-japan-extreme-private-eros-love-song-1974/
One of the most controversial of Hara Kazuo’s documentaries, Extreme Private Eros: Love Song 1974 paints an uncompromising portrait of radical, bisexual activist Takeda Miyuki, who was once Hara’s lover. Through an astonishingly intimate exploration of Miyuki’s character, Extreme Private Eros reflects on the complex relationship between the filmmaker and their subject, at once unapologetically observed and critically vocal.
