Join us for the inaugural concert by the Barsanti Ensemble, an exciting new orchestra of some of Scotland's finest performers on period instruments. The concert explores the migration of Italian musical style across 18th-century Europe, from experiments by Corelli's pupils Geminiani and Tartini, to the latter's protégé Maddalena Lombardini, and the Scottish-influenced music of our namesake, Francesco Barsanti.
Collaborating with the historical instrument collection at St Cecilia's Hall, we will be showcasing a string quartet of their wonderful instruments, as well as their 1793 Broadwood harpsichord, performed by soloist John Kitchen.
