Join us for an evening of poetry, art and folklore!
Knight Errant Press is thrilled to launch a new short graphic novel - Tamlin by Aven Wildsmith.
Aven Wildsmith’s fluid verse and stark artwork reimagine the canonical “Tam Lin” ballad through a colourful and queer lens, creating room for queer love and a queer hero in Scottish folklore.
To celebrate the launch of Aven’s debut work, we’re going to be joined by Gray Crosbie and Rachel Plummer, who have worked on retelling and queering folklore from Scotland and beyond.
You can expect a lively discussion on folklore, poetry, queer reimaginings and fantastical storytelling - we cannot wait to see you there!
Panelists’ details:
Gray Crosbie is a wordsmith and a spoken-word performer. Their solo show AMPHIBIOUS premiered in August 2019 at Free Fringe. Their debut flash fiction pamphlet was published by Knight Errant Press in 2019 - LOVE, PAN-FRIED is a bundle of tiny stories about shape-shifting, love, loss, our strange relationship with our body and everything in between.
Rachel Plummer is a poet based in Edinburgh. Known for her collection of LGBT retellings of traditional Scottish myths and stories Wain, published by The Emma Press in February 2019. Rachel also published a pamphlet of sci-fi poems, The Parlour Guide to Exo-Politics and is a recipient of the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writer Award for poetry in 2016.
The panel discussion will be chaired by Katalina Watt, who is currently Literature Officer at Creative Scotland and Audio Director for khōréō, a quarterly magazine of speculative fiction elevating voices of immigrant and diaspora authors. Her work has appeared in Haunted.
