This November, delegates from around the world will be converging on Glasgow for the COP26 summit. All will be seeking agreement on measures to curb emissions, and slow down the pace of climate change.
In Glasgow they’ll be working to safeguard the future of our species (and our fellow occupants of the planet). Meanwhile at Almond Valley we’ll be looking back to creatures that were lost in an earlier age of climate change.
Between the ice ages, creatures evolved with a big body mass, shaggy coats, and other adaptions to the bitter cold. Suddenly the climate grew warmer, and the big mega beasts found things too hot for comfort, dwindled and eventually died. It’s a rather sad story.
Over the October school holidays there will be mask-making, and games will explore stories of lost lands and changing climate over the last million years, and the struggle for survival.
We'll also be looking for evidence of glaciers, floods and changing river patterns still evident in the landscape - especially the evidence of abandoned river channels and giant ice-worn boulders that lie buried beneath the ground.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
