Archaeological work in Glencoe has started to uncover traces of the townships that were occupied in the 17th and 18th centuries, and probably during the infamous Massacre of 1692. Survey work has located five houses at Achtriachtan and one of these has been completely excavated by NTS archaeological volunteers.
This talk will focus on the process of its discovery and the recovery of artefacts that relate to everyday life in the Glen. The evidence from this work has been used to build a replica turf house that can be visited by members of the public.
Tea and biscuits included in the ticket price.
