Sorry you are too late, this event has been and gone!
This online course, run by the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, gives you the skills to create your own clay portrait sculpture working from images, drawings or paintings of a person of your choosing.
About Clay Portraiture with Duncan Robertson - 8 week online course
An eight-week Clay Portraiture course, suitable for all levels of experience, delivered via Zoom.
7pm - 9pm every Tuesday for 8 weeks, starting on 5th October
This course gives you the skills to create your own clay portrait sculpture working from images, drawings or paintings of a person of your choosing. Through weekly group online meet-ups, demonstration videos and individual tutorial sessions with Duncan Robertson you will be guided through the process of translating two dimensional images into three dimensional form.
Over 8 weeks you will develop observational skills, clay modelling techniques to experiment with form, texture and sculptural expression.
The course includes:
- 8 Weekly group sessions via Zoom (16 hours)
- Demonstration videos in advance of each session
- Individual virtual tutorials with Duncan Robertson
- Course materials*
The weekly demonstration videos will cover; how to make a maquette, anatomy and form, proportions and measuring, facial features, overall composition and hollowing out the head. The course prioritises hands on learning with the materials, drawing on the extensive knowledge of the tutor. You will have opportunity to learn more about portraiture within contemporary sculpture and, as with all ESW’s courses, it’s a way to become part of a learning cohort, benefiting from each other’s questions and experience.
