About Kandyan (Sri Lankan) Dance - Adults
Kandyan Dance is a classical dance form from Sri Lanka. For the first time, Kandyan dance classes will be available in Scotland.
Classes are taught in blocks of 4 weeks.
Class is every Friday, 18:00-19:00, starting on 20th August, and is taught by esteemed dancer and teacher Tharanga Wickramasinghe.
The teaching platform is Zoom.
The class is open both to beginners, and to those who have experience of the dance form.
It is an energetic and dynamic style danced to the Drum called Gata Bera. In the classes, you will gradually train your body and mind to move in formations unique to this style, and to the various combinations of drum beats. Kandyan dance strengthens the body through dynamic movements and posture, and strengthens the mind through creativity.
