Led by international violin soloist Ilya Gringolts, the Gringolts Quartet performs a dazzling concert with pieces ranging from melancholic to euphoric.
About Gringolts Quartet
The Gringolts Quartet made its acclaimed International Festival debut in 2017. With its technical prowess and fresh, searching accounts of music old and new, the Quartet has dazzled audiences worldwide and established itself as one of the most revelatory chamber groups of today.
The Gringolts players bring their 2021 International Festival recital to a close with Dvořák’s vibrant G major Quartet, composed in a rush of elated activity following the composer’s return to his native Bohemia after three years working in America. Exuberant, extrovert and unashamedly happy, it’s just the music to celebrate a return to live performances, building to a finale that glows with deep contentment.
Beforehand, the players contrast Dvořák’s celebration of life with the quiet melancholy of Mozart’s early D minor Quartet, K173.
