Michelangelo Scandroglio Group
Italian double bass player Michelangelo Scandroglio is surely one of Italy’s young rising stars. In 2020, he released 'In The Eyes of the Whale' with Auand Records, his debut album as a leader. Inspired by contemporary jazz, the recording features a lineup of international rising stars. Penned by Scandroglio, all seven originals combine layered melodies, intersecting and merging into each other – thus bringing an ever-changing discourse to the listener.
Fabio Giachino Solo
Multi-jazz award winner Fabio Giachino (who played at EJBF live in 2019 with his trio) is an eclectic artist who expresses himself through jazz and improvised music borders as a pianist, but is also active in electronic music (live and as a studio producer) and as a classical organist. 'Balancing Dreams' (Tosky Records) is the latest solo album in his long and critically-acclaimed discography, but Giachino is about to publish a new exciting chapter of his inspiring work: 'Limitless' is an oneiric solo piano dimension where melodies and rhythms are intertwine, evolving in a dialogue without a solution of continuity.
Ferdinando Romano: Totem
Ferdinando Romano is a double bass player, composer and improviser. He has been awarded Best Italian Rising Star in the Top Jazz 2020 (Musica Jazz’s annual Critics Poll) and his album 'Totem' is in the top ten 'Best Italian Albums” in the same award. 'Totem', his first album as a leader, was released on April 24 2020 by Losen Records. The album’s line-up includes some of the best new talents and improvisers of the Italian new generation of jazz players as well as the great trumpeter Ralph Alessi, one of ECM’s leading musicians.
