Originally rising to global fame in the 90s as the lead singer of Brit pop band Blur, Damon Albarn has gone on to front the animated band Gorillaz for the past 20 years. The East Londoner has an extensive solo career too, including his Mercury-nominated album Everyday Robots and various recordings he has made in Mali and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
An incredibly versatile artist, last year the singer, songwriter and composer shared a live performance streamed from his makeshift home studio in Devon, The Barn, of The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows. The project was inspired by the nature and landscapes of Iceland, where Albarn has been a frequent visitor for almost three decades now. The music was written and workshopped in Iceland and the title is taken from a John Clare poem entitled Love and Memory.
Accompanied by a band and string quartet, this marks a rare solo appearance from the eclectic musician and composer, which features music from new work The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows and other songs from his extensive catalogue.
Location: Edinburgh Park, Lochside Way, Edinburgh, EH12 9GG
