Naomi McClure's artistic process involves finding a balance between the idea and the physical form; focusing more on shape, layered surface and manipulated perspective. By treating each finished piece as a blueprint for the next, her work is a continual progression and intuitive exploration of itself. Her sources of inspiration are vast and ever changing, especially during the pandemic - ranging from her daily rituals, the media she consumes to simply her memory of a space. Often a finished piece is unrecognisable from what inspired it. Presenting the viewer with the freedom to observe her work and have their own interpretation is important part of the process. Her work is an escape, a view into another space that could be something or nothing at all.
Recently Naomi gave a talk about her work for the gallery. You can see it here < ahref="https://www.uprightgallery.com/artist-talks.html" rel="nofollow">www.uprightgallery.com/artist-talks.html
