These Bite! What Our Teeth Are and What We Have Done To Them

About These Bite! What Our Teeth Are and What We Have Done To Them

Our teeth can cause us a lot of problems, as anyone who has ever suffered toothache can testify.

This two-week course by Human Remains Conservator Cat Irving aims to give a greater understanding of our mouths, using the museum’s collections. Beginning with the anatomy of the tooth, it will explore why our teeth can cause us so much pain, and look at the development of dentistry to deal with this. Why was fluoride added to water? When did people start using toothpaste? Who is the tooth fairy? And what were “Waterloo Teeth”?

No prior knowledge required!

This is a course of 2 workshops held over two weeks via Zoom. One ticket admits buyers to both weeks of the course. Individual weeks not sold separately. These tickets will admit the attendee to the Tuesday evening classes. These workshops will be recorded and made available to ticket holders in the week following the session. This means if ticket holders can watch again or if you are not available to attend the live sessions you can still enjoy the workshops in your own time.

Week 1: Tuesday 25th May, 7pm-8:30pm (approx).

Week 2: Tuesday the 1st June, 7pm-8:30pm (approx).

We will email attendees with the Zoom meeting code by 3pm the day before the first class. If you have not received your login details by this time please check your spam mail. If you have any problems please email museum@rcsed.ac.uk.
