Scots trad-rock band Mànran will celebrate what should have been a weekend taking in the beautiful surroundings of Lochaber with the very first Mànran: 10 by the Ben Festival, with an online concert on Saturday 3 April 2021.
Easter Saturday 2021 should have been the closing night of their rescheduled festival that was originally due to take place across Easter weekend 2020 but had been rescheduled to Easter weekend 2021, however due to the current restrictions the brand-new festival is still not able to go ahead in Fort William this April.
While tours and plans for their very own festival were put on the back burner, the band have focused their efforts during lockdown on writing and arranging a new album that is set for release later this year. The online concert will showcase some of this new material, as well as a back-catalogue of the band’s hits from across the last decade.
Alongside musical entertainment from Mànran, one of Scotland’s top comedians Ray Bradshaw will open the night with a stand-up set. Described as one of the most exciting acts on the UK Comedy circuit, the double Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist who has performed sold out solo shows in Edinburgh, Adelaide and Melbourne, will warm the night up nicely with his hilarious show.
Having performed in the iconic Barrowlands in November 2020, when the seven-piece performed one of their most spectacular shows in their ten-year history to incredible critical acclaim, the band are raring to get back together to perform for fans across the world.
Gary Innes, Mànran founding member, said: “We can’t wait to bring this night of entertainment to fans both at home and abroad and we invite everyone to come and join us from the comfort of their own home. As we look towards live entertainment restarting and getting back out on the road, we can’t wait to reconnect with fans through this online concert and get the opportunity to play them the material from our new album before we hopefully take it to a venue near each and every one of them very soon!”
Tickets for the live stream are available to buy at manran.co.uk. There will be no fixed cost per view, with fans invited to ‘pay what you can’ as the band understand that financially things are difficult for everyone right now.
The multi award-winning supergroup were set to celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2020 with gigs across 13 international countries, as well as a full schedule of concerts here at home. Having welcomed two new members to the band in late 2019 in the shape of award-winning singer Kim Carnie and Oracadian guitarist Aidan Moodie, the seven-piece were looking forward to a milestone year of celebrations as they showcased the new line-up.
Mànran formed in 2010 and it didn’t take them long to release a multi-award-winning debut album. They remain the only group in the 21st century to break the UK top 40 with a song in the Gaelic language - their debut single Latha Math reached number 29. The subsequent years brought with them continued success with the band establishing their characteristic sound and distinctive approach to musical arrangement.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
