About First Women of the Royal Scottish Academy

In this online talk, Alice Strang, Senior Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National Galleries of Scotland, will discuss the ‘First Women of the Royal Scottish Academy’. From Christina Robertson (1796-1854) becoming the first female Honorary Member in 1829 to Joyce Cairns (b.1947) being elected the first female President in 2018, Strang will celebrate the eight pioneers who led the way in making the Academy the progressive institution it is today, with equality central to its activities.

With contributions from RSA President Joyce W. Cairns and Sandy wood, RSA Collections Curator this talk will be delivered via Zoom and is exclusive to RSA Friends, Patrons & Art Salon Members.
