Both in his photographs and paintings, Edward Atkinson Hornel (1864-1933) portrayed numerous young women, studying their forms and detailing their poses. While doing so however, he revealed much more about his perception of women than their stories. Marianne Fossaluzza is a PhD student in Visual Culture at the University of Aberdeen, researching the photographic collection of E.A. Hornel. She has also worked with the National Trust for Scotland since 2017.
