This lecture will set Mackie’s art in the context of his life. His Scottish artistic roots underpinned his engagement with French art and continental ideas. His travels in France and Italy provided new vistas for his very individual fusion of colour and light. Pat Clark is a retired headteacher with a passion for Charles Mackie. Her study of the artist was published by Sanson & Co. in 2016: People, Places and Piazzas: The Life and Art of Charles H. Mackie.
