Exhibition ‘Andante for Hands and Water’
Sorry you are too late, this event has been and gone!
This exhibition at Birch Tree Gallery features watercolours by Susan Macintosh from the Scottish Highlands and ceramics by Emily Hughes from Wales!
About Exhibition ‘Andante for Hands and Water’
Andante marks works to be performed slowly. There is nothing fast about watching clay and watercolours dry. Watercolour painter from the Scottish Highlands Susan Macintosh ponders on concepts of slow and fast, earth and fire, femininity and masculinity, while observing Scottish landscape and events of a daily life. During pandemic she also created a body of work that reminds her feelings of places and weathers from different seasons and parts of Scotland.
Emily Hughes, a ceramic artist from Wales, also explores contrasts by juxtaposing smooth areas of clay with the ripped edges and expressive mark-making that are inspired by her life between the quarry and the sea.
