When the citizens of Edinburgh went to their beds on 16 September 1745, the city was in the hands of King George II. When they awoke the following morning, it had fallen to the Jacobites.
To mark the 275th anniversary of the final chaotic day of Edinburgh's failed resistance, we are holding an illustrated lecture to find out what happened. Join our historian Dr Arran Johnston as he explores the events which led up to the capture of the capital city, an event which paved the way for the Battle of Prestonpans just a few days later.
The lecture will be presented via the ZOOM webinar platform: please follow the link to REGISTER in advance and receive the necessary details.
We recommend you then login a few minutes before, with the talk due to start at 8pm.
