“To those who gave so much, we thank you.”
From the 8-10 May, visitors to The Royal Yacht Britannia can enjoy a 1940s-themed weekend to commemorate 75 years since the end of World War II and the arrival of peace in Europe. At 3pm on Friday 8 May, a lone piper will stand tall at Britannia’s bow to play Battle’s O’er, a traditional air performed on the bagpipes at the end of a battle.
Throughout the weekend World War 2 veterans will receive free admission and we’ll have 1940s music playing throughout the State Apartments, plus a special celebratory fudge available in our onboard NAAFI.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for VE Day 75th Anniversary are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment. All information (whether in text or photographs) is given in good faith but should not be relied upon as being a statement of representation or fact.
