Introduction to Linux: A Distro Showcase Session

About Introduction to Linux: A Distro Showcase Session

Right in line with the back-to-uni crowd, we’ll be doing an Introduction to Linux session for those who are curious about it but never knew where to start! We’ll cover

* What it is
* Who uses it
* How to get it
* How to install it
* Introduce the concept of Live USB
* How to find and install software on it

After which, we’ll do a quick showcase of some popular, beginner-friendly distros. You can bring your own laptop to check if Linux would run on it using a Live USB session !

We hope to see you there!

We’ll be meeting at Akva at 7pm, for a 7:15pm start, in the upper mezzanine, then social from 8pm

+++

If you have never been to one of these meetings, just know that it's friendly and informal - grab a pint or a soda, come ask questions, get help with open source software and Linux, and enjoy some geeky company!

There is often a Linux laptop on hand for a quick show and tell for anyone who is curious, and you can also bring your own laptop to troubleshoot Linux, or try Linux on your own laptop - without installing it.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Introduction to Linux: A Distro Showcase Session are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment. All information (whether in text or photographs) is given in good faith but should not be relied upon as being a statement of representation or fact.
