Robin Drysdale and Will Theakston will present this year's annual lecture for Combat Stress - the veterans' mental health charity. They will talk about overcoming adversity and coping mechanisms following their challenge as the “Men of Oar” in this year’s Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is an annual race from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua. In December 2018 the Men of Oar, a crew of five, set off to row the 3000 nautical miles.
Less people have rowed the Atlantic than have climbed Everest or been to Space. With daily 20 foot waves, the thought of spending 7 weeks at sea this is an endurance event like no other - a psychological challenge as much as a physical one. Will and Robin will reveal how they coped with this challenge and overcame everything it threw at them.
Venue: Loretto School, 1-7 Linkfield Rd, Musselburgh EH21 7RE
