The Edinburgh Singers present the first concert of their 2019-20 season: Immortal Bach.
The focus of our concert will be Bach – JS Bach, for chorus and for cello along with other members of the Bach family as well as Bach reimagined by Knut Hystedt in the piece which gives us our concert title – “Immortal Bach”. We will also be presenting Tavener’s emotionally charged “Svyati” and will bring our concert to a stunning close with Ēriks Ešenvalds’ “In Paradisum”.
The choir is thrilled that renowned cellist Su-a Lee will be joining us to start our new season of concerts. After graduating from the Juilliard School, Seoul-born Su-a moved to Scotland to take up the role of Assistant Principal Cello with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, a position she continues to hold. She is also very much in demand as a soloist and chamber music performer of extraordinary variety.
The concert will be performed in the atmospheric St Mary’s Cathedral, providing a rich acoustic for music of such depth.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Immortal Bach are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment. All information (whether in text or photographs) is given in good faith but should not be relied upon as being a statement of representation or fact.
