BROTHER SUN & SISTER MOON Ten Day Residency, Edinburgh Fringe
Venue 43: The Space Tent @Symposium Hall, Hill Square Gardens (opposite Pleasance Courtyard)
Join drag twins, Brother Sun & Sister Moon this year in the Space Tent, at their ten day residency at Edinburgh Fringe. Performance artists Porscha Jean and Natalie Walmsley treat you to their own brand of philosophical musings and performance described by Porscha as, “a residency of sensual storytelling, in a fairytale tent under the stars…” They interpret tales from The Brothers Grimm, as they focus this years performance on: The Boy Who Played Butcher, Cooking Pot and The Sausage Feast, exploring themes including: nudity, gender, race and identity.
Brother Sun & Sister Moon are the story of two siblings who have ventured deep into the heart of the forest as they search for a magical stream. Lost, hungry and in pursuit from the wicked witch, they distract each other by telling stories. Sun and Moon playout their favourite dark fairy tales – but their tale is one of realisation, transformation and coming into sense of self. As they explore folklore and what we can really take from it, they endeavour to take us for a ride right down the rabbit hole. Natalie explains; “In Brother Sun & Sister Moon we explore yin/yang nature through the fantastical and question how there are two sides to every story.”
