Showcasing the creativity of students on Queen Margaret University’s BA (Hons) Costume Design and Construction course - Scotland’s only degree focusing equally on the design and construction of costumes for their own in-house productions– the Balmoral Rocco Forte hotel is hosting a fashion show featuring the characters from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Featuring a specially commissioned promenade collection made by Year 1 – 3 students on the course, for one day only, The Mad Hatter, the Red and White Queens and Alice herself will be joining guests in Palm Court for a tea party with a twist.
In addition, the graduate costumes from QMU’s annual Costume Showcase are on display in The Balmoral’s Lower Gallery throughout May. Featuring the past four years work of the course’s final year students, graduates of this course have gone on to create costumes for theatre, film and TV, with some working on popular shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice and Outlander as well as theatrical productions including War Horse and Cirque Du Soleil.
