On this workshop with calligraphy artist Panna Chauhan, you will focus on learning the italic font, one of Panna's favourites and often referred to as the most elegant of the popular calligraphic scripts:
"Italics, for me the most creative of fonts. It is a cursive font which I feel is very fluid.
You can be incredibly creative and flamboyant once you have practiced the basic Italic lettering. I feel, with this font, you do not have to be so 'rigid' and just let your hand flow!"
Learning calligraphy takes patience. Under Panna's watchful eye, you will spend the morning practising letters in the italic hand on special paper, where the lines are at a slant which will help you with the font.
Using the calligraphy skills you have developed during the workshop, you will then create a calligraphy piece to frame and take home.
This workshop is suitable for beginners, returners and those wanting to try out the italic font. The class size is kept small so that Panna can give you the support you need to get the most from the workshop.
The price includes access to all the equipment you will need, all materials, buffet style lunch and refreshments; and the framed calligraphy piece you will take home.
Please note that The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor space and unfortunately we do not have lift access.
