Dusherra the flagship event of the Scottish Indian Arts Forum is being held on 29th October 2023 on top of Calton Hill in Edinburgh. Dusherra, one of the largest festivals in India, commemorates a 10 day war between the gods and demons thousands of years ago. It is celebrated with gusto by communities with music, dance, food and a symbolic burning of the Effigies of the demons to celebrate the victory of good over evil.
This year’s cultural programme features a mixture of Scottish and Indian music and dance.
The event culminates in the burning of effigies and the fireworks.
2023 marks the 29th anniversary of the SIAF. We aspire to increase the footfall to Dusherra to celebrate this occasion and Spread Indian cultural awareness and values across a wide cross section population.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
