Taking place from 1pm – 3pm, adults and children are invited to attend the free guided community walk at Fauldhouse Community Development Trust to discover the hidden attractions of the local greenspaces and promote outdoor fun.
Attendees will be encouraged to observe the wildlife, identify plant life and learn about different tree species. It will also be an opportunity for locals to find out about the dangers of forest fires and how to avoid or prevent them.
Romana Grant, community engagement and employment skills manager at Forest Enterprise Scotland, said: “We are continually working with local communities to encourage awareness and use of their local woodlands and demonstrate how important forestry is in improving the health and wellbeing of people.
“This event is a perfect opportunity for families to enjoy some quality time together during the summer holidays, whilst also learning all about the wildlife, plant life and interesting attractions that can be found on their doorsteps. With the amazing weather we’ve been having recently, it’s also important for us to highlight the dangers of forest fires, how quickly they can come about, and the actions to take to help prevent them. It’s set to be educational, yet fun day for all the family.”
To book your free place on the guided community walk, email scottishlowlands@forestry.gsi.gov.uk or call 0300 067 6700. Meeting point is outside the Fauldhouse Community Development Trust.
Date: Saturday 28th July 2018
