We are delighted that award-winning Catherine Wheels’ and the National Theatre of Scotland’s new show Eddie & the Slumber Sisters will be coming to the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival at the end of May after a tour of Scotland.
The interactive show for 8-13 year olds, co-produced with the National Theatre of Scotland, explores grieving through the eyes of a child with warm-heart, songs and humour. It centres around the Slumber Sisters, an all-singing trio whose job it is to monitor dreams and ensure they remain healthy and safe. Eddie soon catches their attention. She might be quiet and reserved by day but since her gran died her dreams have become increasingly wild and chaotic. And so the Slumber Sisters decide it’s time to intervene.
The show will run at the Southside Community Centre from 30 May – 3 June and features a specially adapted relaxed performance aimed at children with an autistic spectrum, sensory or communication disorder.
Festival Director, Noel Jordan said: “Catherine Wheels Theatre Company is one of the most respected companies making theatre for children today and we are absolutely delighted to feature their latest work in our programme.”
Catherine Wheels’ Artistic Director, Gill Robertson, said: “We’re really excited to be working with the National Theatre of Scotland and bringing our new show to audiences at the prestigious Edinburgh International Children’s Festival. Eddie is the 14th production we’ve performed at the festival and it’s wonderful to be showcased on this key international platform amongst outstanding talent.”
The Edinburgh International Children’s Festival brings some of the world’s best theatre, dance, multi-media and puppetry specifically made for young people for nine days of inspiring shows and events.
