- Ten days left for listeners to nominate their favourites for the 2017 Forth Awards with Edinburgh St James -
There’s just 10 days left to nominate an inspiring individual, team, act or business for this year’s Forth Awards, which helps celebrate real community champions across Edinburgh and the east.
One of highlights of the city’s social calendar, Radio Forth will hold its 14th annual awards ceremony at the Usher Hall in November and is reminding listeners of the deadline of noon on Friday, 8 September by which they require to submit any nominations.
Just by nominating in any of the 14 Forth Awards categories, listeners will be entered into a draw and could win two VIP tickets to the event, which includes passes to the exclusive after show party.
The Forth Awards recognise those who go above and beyond in their community, whether in education, tourism or the office, with categories including Best Teacher, Best Workplace, the Community Venture Award and the much-loved Local Hero Award.
Cathy Kirk, Bauer Commercial Director, Radio Forth said: “The Forth Awards have helped to shine a light on some of the most inspirational and unsung heroes from our communities over the years and we want to make sure 2017 is no different.
“The nomination process is so simple. With one online form, which can be filled in a matter of minutes, our listeners can help the whole city celebrate the selfless achievements of some truly special people.”
The Forth Awards also celebrate some of the biggest names in music, sport and entertainment, with this year’s live act a closely guarded secret and set to follow in the footsteps of previous performers including Stereophonics, Paolo Nutini, Olly Murs, Deacon Blue, David Gray and Alesha Dixon.
Last year, legendary Scottish rockers Simple Minds, winners of The Forth Performance Award, performed an acoustic set, while Paul Carrack, who received The Forth Music Recognition Award, closed the evening with some of Mike and The Mechanics greatest hits.
The Forth Local Hero award was last year awarded to Scott Glynn for his contribution to various charities and his dedication to the community for launching a sporting memories group for dementia and stroke suffers.
This year’s awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, 16 November at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall and will be hosted by award-winning breakfast and Saturday show presenters Boogie and Arlene. Guests will be treated to a three-course meal and live entertainment.
