Red Thread Edinburgh was founded in 2013 and offers dressmaking courses, sewing lessons and learn to sew courses from our studio in Newington, Edinburgh. All our tutors were trained at Edinburgh College of Art, and are passionate about helping you develop your skills and advance your abilites.
Our Saturday classes are half or full day classes where in just a few hours you will be taught the basics of sewing and how to complete an item from scratch - these are fun, relaxed and a great way to experience Red Thread for yourself.
Our Midweek courses are blocks of classes run over 5 - 10 weeks. In these courses you will again be shown the basics of sewing but go on to develop more advanced techniques to create a more complex item. Our Introduction to Dressmaking course will teach you in just 5 weeks to make a simple dress from scratch, and with these skills you will be able to make many more at home! We also offer more advanced dressmaking courses, where you can learn to make a dress using a commercial pattern and more difficult fabrics. We are passionate to help you develop your skills so you can make more and more pieces at home by yourself.
Our classes are renowned for their excellent tutors, beautiful pieces and the relaxed, fun environment where everyone can learn to make beautiful pieces from scratch! We would love to welcome you to Red Thread soon - sign up today!
