There’s nothing quite like a bit of local knowledge to give you an even better understanding of a city and your guide has that in abundance. Robert was born only a few minutes away from our usual Greyfriars Kirkyard starting place, was educated in Edinburgh, attended University in the Old Town and now teaches only a few minutes away from Greyfriars. He has lived in Edinburgh his entire life.
Historic Edinburgh Tours was formed in 2013 with the intention of providing high-quality walking tours around the Old Town of Edinburgh. We research, write, plan and resource our tours ourselves and pride ourselves on a high degree of professionalism. Robert, your tour guide, is a local school teacher and has published a number of multimedia titles, one of which was sold in Greyfriars Kirk itself. He has been fortunate, through his teaching job, to have completed temporary placements with Edinburgh World Heritage and the Royal Commission for Ancient and Historic Monuments (now part of Historic Environment Scotland). We are now a family run company.
Our Greyfriars Kirkyard tour runs most Thursday nights 7pm-8.45pm.
Our Old Town tour runs on most Friday nights 7pm-9pm and on most Saturdays 2pm-4pm.
We can also cater for private tours at different times. Please check our website for information.
