Edinburgh International Climbing Arena is an adventure sports facility located in Ratho, near Edinburgh, Scotland. Built in a disused quarry, it is the largest indoor climbing wall in the world.

If you live in Edinburgh, you’re just minutes away from Europe’s largest indoor climbing arena. EICA: Ratho has hundreds of routes, so whether you’re a novice or an expert, there are no shortage of challenges. You don’t need to stick to climbing the walls either. There are rocks for bouldering in the centre of the arena, and also a separate bouldering room. Look up from the arena, and you’ll see the famous aerial assault course 30 metres above you.

EICA: Ratho has amazing climbing facilities, but it’s not just for climbers. We have a gym and fitness studios. Children can play, bounce, scramble or climb in the Rock Tots playroom or the Scrambles softplay area. Adults have a choice of conference and event rooms, suitable for anything from a corporate seminar to team building sessions. Who’d have thought you could do so much with a disused quarry?

New for 2016

Clip ‘n Climb comes to Scotland - the latest action attraction for all the family. Thrilling fun for everyone with cleverly designed climbing challenges offering a new entertaining activity at Europe’s largest indoor climbing arena just outside Edinburgh. Reaching new heights never looked so good!

The concept, first pioneered in New Zealand, allows you to simply be clipped onto an automatic belay system and start climbing without the need for a partner, making climbing safe and accessible for everyone, from pre-school kids to retirees. Fifteen different challenges will be available, with 20 climbing lines, at each hour long session.

The beauty of Clip ‘n Climb is that unlike traditional climbing no previous experience or training is required, apart from a statutory 10 minute briefing at the start of each hour’s session.

It offers the challenge of climbing in a safe, accessible environment and will appeal to everyone from 4 to 84 years and beyond – something the whole family can participate in.

The introduction of Clip ‘n Climb at Ratho compliments all the other activities we have on offer: soft play, climbing in the amazing arena, a fantastic gym and a great cafe and guarantees a great day out for the whole family.

And we also see it as something that will have a huge appeal to adult groups including hen and stag parties and companies looking for a team building event.
