About India - biggest country, biggest election, what role in a complicated world?
In a year of unprecedented election numbers, India sees the biggest democracy and population of all go to the polls.
The election has huge implications domestically, regionally, and for te direction the rest of the world might go. The usual alliances of the "West", combined with the shifting set of "opponents" – state and non-state – leave an ever-more powerful yet relatively under-represented non-aligned world – one which hedges policy stances on any given issue depending on national preference.
The Scottish Council on Global Affairs convenes an expert panel to discuss the issues at stake:

Professor Wilfried Swenden - Professor of South Asian and Comparative Politics, University of Edinburgh.
Dr Monalisa Adhikari - Lecturer in International Politics, University of Stirling.
