The outstanding young saxophonist has already attracted the praise of Tommy Smith, who remarked that the then nineteen years old Carmichael was better than he was himself at that age.

A Jazzwise magazine One to Watch in 2019, Carmichael has taken his original music, which continues the European tradition established by mentors including Iain Ballamy, to venues including Ronnie Scott’s and has appeared at Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen jazz festivals.

His quartet, here including drummer Stephen Henderson and bassist Mark Hendry alongside piano super-talent Fergus McCreadie, is one of the leading ensembles on the richly endowed Scottish jazz scene and promises music that’s beautifully sculpted and gorgeously melodic with an underlying sense of rhythmical power.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Matt Carmichael Quartet are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
