The Arts & Crafts Movement has had a lasting impact on international interior design. Originating in Britain in the late 19th century, the Arts & Crafts principles of design – in particular, the honest use of materials, the importance of handmade goods, simplicity of design and the use of colours and forms inspired by nature – are still relevant today.

Take inspiration from beautiful objects as Stephen Jackson, Senior Curator, Furniture and Woodwork at National Museums Scotland, explores the national collection’s holdings of Arts and Crafts design, including work by William Morris, May Morris, C. R. Ashbee, C. F. A. Voysey, Ernest Gimson and Robert Lorimer.

Tickets include entry to May Morris Art & Life on the day of the event.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for The Arts & Crafts Movement in the National Collection are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
