The Wind Beneath Us (2016)

Dir: Nuwan Jayathilake 12, Sri Lanka, Drama, 120mins

The debut feature of young Sinhalese filmmaker Nuwan Jayathilake. A gentle family drama about two young brothers Vihanga and Kasun, who go on a quest to find their family’s prize bull, Sudda. This animal is not only the main bread-winner for an impoverished Sinhalese family, but it is itself a member of the family, and thus the young brothers actions are the actions of any family when a loved one has vanished. Shot in rarely seen rural Sri Lanka, whose lush mountain forests offer a secondary narrative of ecological preservation, this is a story of love and commitment with a universal appeal. In Sinhalese with English subtitles. Followed by a Q&A with the director.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for The Wind Beneath Us are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
