Celebrating the life and music of Victor Jara

About Celebrating the life and music of Victor Jara

The Chilean singer Victor Jara became a worldwide symbol of social justice and freedom after he was murdered in the CIA-backed military coup of 1973. This September marks Jara’s 87th birthday and also the 46th anniversary of his assassination. As a celebration of his life and music, Red Trio and special guests come together to sing a selection of his most beautiful and relevant songs.

Red Trio is a band based in Edinburgh formed by Eileen Karmy (flute, cuatro, and vocals), José Rojas (percussion, vocals) and Martín Farías (electric guitar, vocals) who play a repertoire of Latin American folk songs in refreshing arrangements.

Tickets FREE, booking encouraged :)

Concert starts at 7 pm, doors open at 6.45pm

Funded by Alistair Hulett Memorial Trust
