As a Royal Marine, JJ Chalmers' life changed in a second when he was blown up by an Improvised Explosive Device on routine patrol in Afghanistan. He survived and, after gruelling operations and rehab, went on to win a gold medal at the first Invictus Games, star in BBC's Road to Santiago and forge a career as a presenter for BBC and Channel 4. JJ reflects on his journey so far in the 2019 Donald Gorrie Lecture.
