About Fort Douglas Summer Holiday Activities

Get the kids outdoors this summer and away from the screens with a visit to Fort Douglas adventure park. If you’re searching for things to do with the kids during the holidays you’ll find extra activities to take part in this magical adventure playground, included in your entry fee. Each session is designed for kids with some parental/guardian help, so be prepared to get (a little) messy. Most of all, HAVE FUN! And remember, we always have the coffee cabin in Fort Douglas for any adults in holiday survival mode. Snacks and juices also available here or in The Larder before you enter.

Mondays: Crafty Card Making
Take a short break from play and try your hand at making a card or postcard to send to friends/family and tell them about your trip to Fort Douglas! Location: The Witches Den in Fort Douglas on 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th July, 5th and 12th August.

Tuesdays: Face Stencilling
Who would you like to be today? A pirate swinging from the zip wires, a princess in her castle? Choose from a range of stencils and run away with your imagination. Location: Kids Activity Cabin in Fort Douglas on 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th July and 6th, 13th August.

Wednesdays: Wand Making
Expelliarmus! Make your very own magical wand with the natural surroundings using crafting materials and some imagination. Location: The Witches Den in Fort Douglas on 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st and 7th, 14th August.

Thursdays: Clay Creatures
Natural materials + air drying clay and a sprinkle of imagination = your very own clay creature! Use the materials on site to create yours. Location: The Witches Den in Fort Douglas on 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th July and 1st, 8th, 15th August.

Fridays: Tree discovery
Did you know there are five different species of tree in Fort Douglas alone? With a chunky crayon and sheet of paper, you can take an imprint of the tree bark to identify each one. Or use different coloured crayons to make a colourful montage. Location: The Witches Den in Fort Douglas on 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th July and 2nd, 9th and 16th August.

Saturdays: Forest Faces
Using a small ball of air drying clay, create a forest face using materials you find in Fort Douglas as facial features. Think twigs for hair, leaves for a body or even small stones as eyes – let your imagination take over. Location: The Witches Den in Fort Douglas on 29th June, 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th July and 3rd, 10th, 17th August.

Sundays: Pebble Painting
With a river washed pebble and some paint, create an abstract artwork that Picasso would be proud of! Take it home to use as a paperweight or leave it somewhere secret in the park for others to find. Location: The Witches Den in Fort Douglas on 30th June, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th July and 4th, 11th, 18th August.

*Please note each activity is limited to 20 children on a first-come, first-served basis. Multiple sessions run throughout the day between 11am and 4pm – please check at the Fort Douglas activity cabin on the day of your visit for exact timings. Activities are subject to change in the event of bad weather.*
