The Briggers: The Story of the Men and Boys Who Built the Forth Bridge

About The Briggers: The Story of the Men and Boys Who Built the Forth Bridge

The Briggers are a Forth Bridge research and presentation group of volunteers based in South Queensferry. Named after the bridge workers, the group was formed to identify the names of the 73 men and boys who died constructing the Forth Bridge. Their research continues into the history of the bridge and the people who made and maintain it. The Briggers give Forth Bridge talks to adults and school children and provide consultancy to bridge projects. They also hold a significant archive of images, articles, books and other Forth Bridge material. Their book “The Briggers”, written by Edinburgh author and historian Elspeth Wills, is based on their research and tells the story of the Forth Bridge and the men who made it.

All of our lecture mornings cost £9 and include a friendly lecture where you have the opportunity to meet our guest lecturer, have coffee and cakes and get a special tour.
