About Playtime with James Steele

A remarkable and distinctive new talent, Glasgow-based saxophonist James Steele has played with the likes of Mike Stern, Stewart Brock (Prides), Ross Leighton (Fatherson), Pat Kane (Hue and Cry), Joe Locke and Jacqui Dankworth.

Originally from Stafford, James has spent time studying and performing throughout the UK. In 2016 he graduated from the BMus Jazz program at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, having studied under Tommy Smith, Mario Caribe and Kevin Mackenzie.

At the Conservatoire, James attended master classes with world renowned musicians such as Dave Liebman, Brandford Marsalis, Makoto Ozone and Bob Mintzer.

As a performer and composer he has a style that is both unique and compelling and he'll be joined for this very special concert by Martin Kershaw (alto sax), Mario Caribe (bass) and Tom Bancroft (drums).
