Graeme Stephen’s Letters for Peace
Graeme Stephen presents 'Letters for Peace' inspired by letters written by conscientious objectors who refused conscription to fight during the First World War.
About Graeme Stephen’s Letters for Peace
Sorry, but this event has been and gone!
Graeme Stephen is one of the UK's most distinctively creative guitarists and composers. As a guitarist he has taken the lessons he has learned from Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny and Jim Hall and developed them into his own style, creating a fluent, exciting and inquiring sound that also hints at Eastern European influences.
His compositions, especially those written as new soundtracks to classic silent films, have become a byword for atmosphere, a sense of place and storytelling. He has collaborated with the sensational Dutch string quartet Zapp4 and his long-term association with whistle virtuoso Fraser Fifield has redefined the expectations of the duo format while also taking both players into the European band LoLanders which debuted so strongly at Celtic Connections in Glasgow this year.
Letters for Peace continues Stephen's engagement with poetic, emotional narratives and features his guitar alongside a string trio comprised of Scotland's leading players in a moving performance of soulful, deep feeling music.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Graeme Stephen’s Letters for Peace are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
