Go Home and Sit Still is a drama about love, adventure, memory and loss, inspired by archive material held by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s Archives and Surgeons' Hall on the Scottish Women's Hospital.
Drawing on journal entries and letters written by women deployed to the Balkans during the First World War, it explores the seldom-told story of a group of pioneering women who defied the military and medical establishment of their day. This is a moving and timely fictionalised interpretation of a remarkable humanitarian odyssey, undertaken at great personal risk by thousands of female members of the Scottish Women's Hospitals who were determined not to stay at home.
