CELEBRATING SCOTTISH WATERCOLOURS
The captivating nature of watercolour painting is celebrated at the 138th Open Annual Exhibition by The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour which brings together over 250 new works by over 160 established and emerging artists from across Scotland.
The Society was begun to specifically encourage and promote painting in a water-based medium and the exhibition captures the range of techniques used by watercolour artists, from washes to highly detailed brushwork, to express a wide variety of subjects and ideas.
This year the exhibition also features three works by Philip Reeves, past president of the RSW who died last year, alongside works by invited artists Antonio Masi, President of the American Watercolor Society, Nihad Al Turk , a Syrian refugee now living in Scotland, John Taylor, printmaker and a digital projection of a water based painted work to music by Eleanor Meredith.
