Join Artist Elisabeth Viguie Culshaw at the Edinburgh Remakery and learn to create beautiful crisp patterns on recycled fabric using leaves and a steaming process before dipping it in an Indigo bath.
Eco printing is a natural process using botanical material and steam to transfer the pigment and texture of leaves onto fabrics or materials to create a beautiful pattern. No ink nor paint is used in the process and the result is stunning and unique. Indigo dyeing is a natural process using plant based dye to colour cloth in a beautiful shade of blue.
We will harvest locally collected Scottish leaves before printing on recycled cloth. We will dip the result in a bath of Indigo Dye and extract a lovely and very individual mixed dyeing result. We will spend the rest of the day stitching the cloth into a cushion cover or fabric banner.
You don’t need any special skills to tackle this workshop although basic sewing skills are always helpful. You will go home with some samples of your work on fabric as well as your beautiful and unique cushion covers.
Cloth will be supplied but if you have any old bed linen or such like ready to be recycled you would be very welcomed to bring them along.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Eco Print and Indigo Dye your Cushion Covers are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
